Making a connection.
Much of modern marketing is a firmly keyboard based endeavour.
But like many aspects of life, your PR, business development and marketing doesn’t exist in a silo. Your business is only as good as your personal relationships and the strength of your network.
As a fledgling PR person, the most important thing I learned, was that journalists are just people. Clients are just people. The people you collaborate with on every project you do, every day of the week, are just people. So, those emails are more than transactions, they are written with respect, not just ctrl c /ctrl v.
And when we meet people in the real world, seeing them face to face and making a connection, those connections make the emails, comments, social media posts and ultimately our jobs, much more meaningful, smoother, more enjoyable. And often as a result, more effective.
Does that connection come through the face to face meeting or the online conversations? Whichever, those relationships make your business and your reputation stronger.
